The three big US fashion-resale apps now have very different fee models after recent changes. Here is how they compare in 2026.
The fee models
| App | Selling fee | Payment processing | On a $50 sale |
|---|---|---|---|
| Poshmark | $2.95 under $15, else 20% | Included | $10.00 |
| Mercari | 0% (removed) | 2.9% + $0.50 | ~$1.95 |
| Depop (US/UK) | 0% (removed Jul 2024) | 3.3% + $0.45 | ~$2.10 |
That is a striking gap: on a $50 item, Poshmark keeps $10 while Mercari and Depop keep under $2.50.
So why use Poshmark at all?
Poshmark’s 20% is high, but it includes a prepaid shipping label and buyer protection, and its closet-sharing model drives genuine discovery for branded fashion. Sellers who actively share and host “Posh Parties” often move inventory faster than on cheaper apps - and faster turnover can beat a lower fee.
Where each app shines
- Depop - streetwear, Y2K and vintage to a Gen-Z audience; cheapest for US/UK sellers.
- Mercari - general used goods beyond fashion; lowest fees with broad categories.
- Poshmark - mid-to-premium branded clothing, shoes and bags with a social engine.
Don’t forget Vinted
If you want zero seller fees, Vinted charges sellers nothing at all - the buyer pays a protection fee instead. See Depop vs Vinted and the full best for clothing ranking.
